Terry S.
Terry is our treatment coordinator. She has had this position in our office for over 14 years. She has become an expert in dealing with insurance and financial coordination. If you have questions in regards to either of these please ask for her when you call our office. Terry enjoys the warmth of spring and summer, Phillies Baseball, shopping and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Lisa D.
Lisa is our employee with the most seniority. She joined us in May of 1985 and is responsible for many of the behind the scene task such as accounts payable, payroll, and bookkeeping. However, when the phones are busy you may be on the receiving end of her sunny hello. It is her sunny disposition that aids in keeping the office a warm and friendly place to both work at and visit. In her spare time she enjoys watching movies and sports, with her family.
Sue P.
The face that will most likely be the one to be smiling at you when you enter our practice doors. She came to work for us in July of 2009 when she made the decision to return to Reading where she had worked for many years in the medical field. Sue is a very big Pittsburgh Penguins fan and will talk about them with all who are willing to listen. Other hobbies include an interest in football, attending concerts and spending time with family and friends.
Karen L.
Karen is our part-time hygiene coordinator, and she may look familiar to some of you. Karen first worked for us in the early 90's and decided to rejoin our team in August of 2009. She works hard to find and offer the appointment for our hygienist that is just right for you, aiding you in remembering your appointments from one six months to the next, thus insuring that your oral health is optimal. When Karen is not busy in our office she also serves as the Executive Secretary for the Berks County Dental Society. In her off work time she enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in some of her hobbies such as music, shopping, spending time with friends and whenever possible going to see her mom at her house at the beach.
Hygienists
Sherry G.
Sherry is a Dental Hygienist who joined our practice in October of 1986. She earned her degree from Cleveland State University and has furthered her education with courses in the control of periodontal disease at the University of Pennsylvania. Her gentle touch makes her a favorite of both children and our older patients. If you want to keep her as your hygienist be sure to make your next appointment as you finish up your current one. Her hobbies include gardening, crafts, and interior decorating.
Melissa D.
Melissa's smile brings sunshine to our office. This experianced hygienist grew up in Berks County with her three sisters. She attended and graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School / Berks Career & Tech Center with an emphasis in dental occupations. After her high school graduation she worked as a dental assistant for a periodontal/restorative practice for nine years. Knowing that she enjoyed working in the dental field she decided to attend North Hampton Community College and obtain her certificae in dental hygiene. Melissa substitued in our office for vacationing hygenist for several years and in 2011 we were happy to offer her a full time position. She has quickly developed a following of patients and we are certain her appointment book will soon have a waiting list. Melissa and her husband Shawn enjoy an active outdoor life, spending as much time as they can walking, hiking, canoeing and camping. Their seven year old basset hound Lucy trucks along with them bringing sunshine to their life.
Jennifer H.
Jennifer grew up in our practice as a patient of Dr. Bob and Sherry Gensal. They not only did an fine job of caring for her oral health but peaked in her an interest in a profession within the field of dentistry. She attended and graduat4ed from Brandywine High School in 2000. Her next step was to attend hygiene school at North Hampton Community College, graduating in May of 2002. Jen joined our team as a hygienist in September of that year when the board results were in and the license had been granted. June 2005 provided Jen with another change in her life as she changed her name and became Mrs. Andrew Horst, that life took on a special meaning when they had their first child, Josiah, in April of 2008. Jennifer enjoys sharing with her patients not only the important tidbits of good oral hygiene, but also the fun things she enjoys in life such as traveling, listening to music, teaching Sunday School and learning sign language. If your looking for a quiet spoken but fun loving individual, to make sure your teeth and gums are their healthiest, Jenn may be the hygienist you're looking for.
LouAnn H.
Transplanted from Coatesville, PA LouAnn came to Reading in 1981 when she was employed as one of four school dental hygienist for the Reading School District. With a certificate of dental hygiene from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's degree in Education from West Chester State College, LouAnn began her dental hygiene career 31 years ago. Educating children on the benefits of proper oral health from kindergarten to 7th grade and coordinating appropriate dental treatment are her main responsibilities for the school district Continuing education is an ongoing thing for hygienist and in this pursuit LouAnn has received her Master's Degree from Temple University and completed all content courses toward her Doctorate. Though LouAnn full time position is with the Reading Scool District we were lucky to have her join our team in 2006 as a part time hygienist. LouAnn currently calls Exeter home where she lives with a supportive and wonderful man named Matt. The couple enjoy music, sports, good movies, and most of all their red bloodhound named Buddy and their cat named Kee-kee.
Assistants
Susan C., CDA, RDA, EFDA
Susan obtained her education from Ocean County Vocational-Technical School and Ocean County College. She joined our practice May 18, 1998 and her artistic skills and dental knowladge have been utilized to make patients feel comfortable in stressfull situations. Some of her hobbies include stenciling, crafts, surfing the Internet, e-mailing friends and family, gardening, exercising, and keeping current in dental trends.
Valarie K., CDA
Valarie started in our practice as a patient after she graduated from Oley Valley High School and completed the Dental occupations program in assisting at Berks Career and Technology Center she choose to come and work for us. She went on with her education to become a CDA. Valarie"s years experience in the Dental field has made her a great asset to our practice. She enjoys helping all patients to feel very comfortable.
Gina S., CDA, EFDA
Gina is the dental assistant who has been with us the longest number of years She earned her degree at Berks Career and Technology Center. She joined our practice December 1, 1989. Gina worked to received her CDA and then continued her education to become an EFDA. She is also a member of the ADAA and NDAA. Her gentle manner has her patients feeling very comfortable. She enjoys spending her free time with her dog's Cookie and Yogi.
